National Donut Day, held annually on the first Friday of June, was established by The Salvation Army in 1938 to honour the "Donut Lassies" of World War I - women who served donurts to soldiers on the front lines. It symbolizes our history of care and ongoing social services.

The Salvation Army in London says it’s expecting a busier holiday season as more families register for programs for support. With rising food and housing costs, more than 2,500 applications for Christmas assistance have already been submitted. The organization expects to help about 3,500 households in the city this year.
